Our Laboratory is focused on understanding the processing and mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of materials for use in extreme environmental applications.

Current Research Descriptions

  1. Processing new compositions of ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTC) and composites using spark plasma sintering (SPS) that will allow us to develop unique nanostructured materials
  2. Develop high-temperature testing and characterization test methods in order to understand at temperature oxidation and mechanical properties
  3. Developing novel compositions of UHTC powders for use as high-temperature defense applications
  4. Modeling phenomena during the processing of materials using spark plasma sintering through finite element analysis modeling
