The Corral Laboratory was established in August 2008 at the University of Arizona. We focus on processing advanced high-temperature resistant materials and developing an understanding of their mechanical and thermal properties at temperature for application in extreme environmental conditions. Specifically, we conduct research on ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) and composites, UHTC coatings, multifunctional high-temperature ceramic nanocomposites, and oxide ceramic composites.

Dr. Corral is always happy to talk with students who are interested in conducting research. The University of Arizona is consistently ranked in the top 25 State Research Universities and our Materials Science Engineering Department conducts “World Class Materials Research in the Great American Southwest.” We invite you to contact us to discuss your potential interests with the Corral Laboratory research group.
